This is the homepage of the Onahama Ryokan and Hotel Association located in Onahama, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.

Onahama in Iwaki City is located in the southernmost part of the Tohoku region, and is characterized by a warm climate with almost no snow even in the winter. Onahama is a popular coastal town that includes Onahama Port, which is an international port, and Onahama Fishing Port.

There are lots of tourist attractions in and around Onahama, including the new landmark Onahama Marine Bridge at Onahama Port, activity facilities such as Aquamarine Fukushima and Spa Resort Hawaiians, where families can enjoy the whole day, and the Shiramizu Amidado Temple, a designated National Treasure where visitors can sense the history of the area.

In addition, the 60-km-long coastline from Nakoso at the southern tip of Iwaki to Hisanohama at the northern tip features a succession of diverse beaches. Here, the Iwaki Nanahama Kaido, a cycling route that opened to traffic in March 2021, comprises a variety of courses running beside the ocean, allowing visitors to enjoy the richness of this city by the sea with all their senses.

Onahama is famous for its anglerfish, a winter specialty that is served in a variety of styles at ryokans as well as restaurants. And besides anglerfish, you can enjoy sashimi and other seafood dishes unique to Onahama that incorporate fish and shellfish in season.

In addition to delicious seafood, Onahama offers visitors many opportunities to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables, including tomato picking at a tomato theme park-an unusual experience in Japan, strawberry picking, and blueberry picking.

Furthermore, the cycling course that starts at Aquamarine Park and loops around downtown Onahama is especially recommended for women, as it is lined with fashionable cafes and restaurants, and you can also enjoy a sweet treat tour as an activity.

Not only can you enjoy fresh seafood right there at the restaurant, you can also take it home with you as a memento of your trip.

Beginning with souvenirs unique to Iwaki, such as dried fish and the well-known mehikari (a species of greeneyes, which are small, slender marine fish with large irridescent green eyes), you willl discover a long list of delicious gourmet foods that make superb souvenirs, such as various kinds of tomatoes and strawberries, puddings made with carefully selected fresh cream and anglerfish collagen added as a “secret” ingredient, and Japanese sweets handmade according to the season.
